10/09/1787 LLOYD’S LIST report: The ELIZABETH, Peacock, from Memel to Alloa with timber was lost 24th instant near the Naze of Norway; the crew saved. 01/10/1787 Caledonian Mercury report: The ELIZABETH of Kincardine, was found at sea by the ALEXANDER of Lynn, Captain Jeremiah Bausch, without a living soul on board and towed to Hambersund in Norway, her fore-mast, bowsprit and everything thereto belonging gone. Nothing remaining but main mast and with shrouds and sails: also both cables, though much tore, with one anchor, all her upper works broke, and on her starboard side two holes in the deck supposed to be made by some ship’s anchor who has run foul of her. |
