11/02/1859 Glasgow Herald reported - The brig “WILLIAM SORLIE”, McKenzie, of and from Glasgow for Paramaribo and Surinam, with a general cargo, was driven ashore through stress of weather on the west side of Borne Barra (Hebrides) on 26 January, on a sandy beach; and is end on, and does not appear to be damaged yet. 19/04/1859 Glasgow Herald - Advertisement – WRECK OF THE WILLIAM SORLIE – SALVAGE SALE.
