1949 Damage repairs. While lying at the Thornley Coal Company Wharf, Ratcliff on 13 July, caught fire, spread from adjacent premises, and so serious was the damage it was thought likely she would be rendered useless. Part deck, bulwarks, masts and rigging affected.
