19/06/1910 Whilst on a voyage from Harrington with pig iron for Port Talbot collided off The Skerries with and sank the French steamer LA ROCHELLE (1,360/1883) with the loss of 10 of the French crew. YEWS bow was badly damaged and she started to settle by the head.
20/06/1910 Having struggled to keep her afloat the crew lost their fight and YEWS sank at 18:00 hrs.
ten of LA ROCHELLE crew of nineteen and the crew of the YEWS being picked up by the steamers PANMURE (321/1859) and ALDERNEY.
