Whilst on a voyage from Montreal with a cargo of wheat and flour for London was sunk with a torpedo by the German submarine UB-31 (Kpt Thomas Bieber), in position 49 58’N 005 11’W about 2 miles SSE of The Lizard. 4 crew members were lost
