13/11/1965 Left the Clyde for Indonesia for her 9000 mile delivery voyage - insured for £3.3M.
Initiated industrial tin mining from Bangka Island
Remarks
A Stephen & Sons was the parent company. The vessel was built by their specialist dredger company, Simons-Lobnitz.
After Indonesia's Declaration of Independence in 1945, the tin mining industry gradually came under Indonesian control. In 1960, the State Tin Enterprise Co-ordinating Board was established and three tin-producing units on the islands of Bangka, Belitung and Singkep became public companies.
