She left Cardiff on New Year's Day laden with coal for Genoa and sprang a leak. Her captain and 12 men took to the boats but they swamped and all drowned. Eleven men left on her elected to stay aboard and were taken off by the Newquay lifeboat on the 3rd. As she was seen to be still afloat the next day the eleven men asked to be put aboard and taken in tow. Unfortunately she ship, due to the amount of water she had taken in, became unmanageable and the men were taken off again. This was about 15 miles SW of Lundy Island. The ship then drove ashore and broke in two
