Sailed from River Tyne with a cargo of coal for Santos, Brazil and on 26/05/1894 off Flmborough Head ran down and sank Scarborough fishing smack CAPERNAUM. All five hands on CAPERNAUM lost. POLYNESIAN unable to report incident until she reached Santos.
