(On 26/Sep/1848 a Tigress, said to have been a wooden brig of 200 tons was swept onto a reef south of the Onkaparinga River. Attempts were made to reach the shore during which both Captain Alexander Guthrie and a passenger, F. Drew drowned. During another storm in October the ship broke up).
