Torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U 110 east of Cape Farewell in position 60.45 north by 33.02 west whilst on a voyage from the Tyne and Loch Ewe to Sydney, Nova Scotia in ballast in convoy OB 318. All on board were rescued.
