Shelled by Japanese cruiser TONE when SW of the Cocos Islands, 20.32S - 87.10E on passage Newcastle NSW and Melbourne for Bombay with zinc.
80 survivors of whom 69 were executed by the order of Captain Mayazumi. His superior, Adm Sakonju was hanged 21/01/1948.
