Whilst on an independent voyage, under Captain P. Williams, from Mauritius and Pernambuco to Trinidad and U. K., was sunk with a torpedo by the German submarine U 508, in a position 08.57N., 59. 48W., 200 miles N. W. from Georgetown, British Guiana. Cargo of 6705 tons of sugar.
