Whilst under command of Captain H. Evans on a voyage from Calcutta, Trincomalee and Lourenco Markes to N. America, was sunk by the Japanese submarine I 165 in the Indian Ocean, in a position 01.37 N., 77.27 E., 300 miles from Galle. 14 lives were lost.
