11/07/1963 she struck the submerged wreck of freighter MARIONGA J. CAIRIS near Colonia on the River Plate on passage Montevidoe for Buenos Aires. During the evacuation of her 358 passengers and 63 crew,she caught fire from engine-room short circuit. fifty-two lives lost. |
